Welcome to Book Me, a blog dedicated to books and everything book related. Here I'll review books mostly of the suspense, horror variety, but every so often I'll stray.
You see, I grew up reading R.L. Stine and Christopher Pike. I was the 5th-grade kid who, when the bell rang for recess, went straight to the school library to check out a book and then went outside to play four square (I was very good, I think).
Before I had even kissed a boy, I moved on to Stephen King and and read the first book that ever truly scared me: Pet Sematary. The scene with the toddler holding a knife--that's seared, flavors and all, in my memory. Still.
When I was a junior in high school, my literary tastes took a dark turn. I read almost every Nicholas Sparks book in existence. I even did a speech on his books for speech class. (Like I said, I was a high school girl.)
Since then, my reading diet has consisted of masters of horror Dean Koontz and Stephen King. Science fiction legend Michael Crichton is also a favorite of mine. Samplings of newer authors, like Gillian Flynn and Paula Hawkins, are on my shelves too.
I welcome you on this journey as I chronicle what I believe is the best fiction, the fiction that transports. After all, that's why I (we) read fiction. To get out of here.
Thank you, book lovers, for reading this first, to-the-point post. More to come.
